Rowena combines an academic background in Contemporary Art Theory and English Literature with 20 years’ practical experience within the fine art sector. She has worked in artist studios, commercial galleries and institutions in the UK, Europe and USA, amassing a unique and comprehensive insight into many facets of the contemporary art industry internationally.

As artist liaison at Hauser & Wirth between 2010 and 2016 and Blain Southern between 2018 and 2020, Rowena managed ambitious exhibitions, performances and public commissions by renowned artists such as Mark Bradford, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Francesco Clemente, Martin Creed, Ellen Gallagher, Anri Sala, Yinka Shonibare and Joan Snyder, as well as the estates of Edward Kienholz, Jason Rhoades and Leon Golub. Overseeing projects from conception to completion, Rowena has built and nurtured close professional relationships with artists, curators, collectors, gallerists, press and fine art professionals.

In addition to her commercial gallery experience, Rowena has directed the studio of Turner Prize-winning artist Martin Creed and assisted British photographer Nick Waplington. Working in the studio has afforded her first hand experience of fabricating and installing artworks.

Having assisted the teams at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Whitechapel Gallery and Ashmolean Museum, Rowena is privileged to have worked alongside professionals of the highest standard in world class institutions.

Rowena’s varied skill set and in-depth experience within the fine art industry provides the foundation from which she advises artists on matters which include cultural positioning, development, outreach, contractual negotiations and project management, while respecting and maintaining individual clients’ voices, relationships and visions for legacy.
